Evin Joyce's visit to our school 25/1/'18
Today former pupil Evin Joyce came in to show us what he does in Zambia. He also came to ask us about Barrow Books. The Barrow Books operation gets spare or unused books to bring to the not as fortunate children. He showed us some of the nuts farmers have made. We have gathered many books like we did last year. The books will be making there way to Zambia early in February.

Fruit from the Baobab tree
Evin brought in fruit from the Baobab tree. This tree grows in hotter parts of Zambia, locally it is know as the upside down tree . Children crack it open and eat the sweet sticky stuff from the inside of it. It tastes like "fresher sweets" here
Our latest bundle of books have arrived in Zambia. All the community leaders and children have sent their to Tom,Evin,Ailbhe and all of us at SBC. Sent from my iPhone

Past pupil Ailbhe Joyce gave a "Presentation to Classes 3rd to 6th on 11/1/'17. She spoke about all her work with Barrow Books out in Zambia. Ailbhe thanked all at SBC for kindly donating children's books to this worthy initiative which she and her brother have set up in and around Lusaka the capital city of Zambia. Don't gorget the school continues to stock-pile books for Ailbhe so keep sending them into us.
This project involves visiting rural villages cut off from mainstream society in Lusacka, Zambia. A basic “borrow and return” library system has been set up where Evin and his colleagues call to homes and schools with their wheelbarrows laden with books. The programme is only in its infancy but is proving to be a major success. Evin’s sister, Ailbhe,- also a past pupil of ours at SBC,- has taken a year out from her Teaching position in England to offer her help with this and many other initiatives in Zambia.
