- This year’s Official Parent-Teacher Meetings have been deferred until the end of January 2021. They shall commence on Thursday 21st and finish on Friday 29th. Due to Covid 19 Restrictions it is most likely that this year’s meetings will be carried out over the phone. At least one week before the PT Meetings, parents will receive notification of the day/time their call is to take place.
- From Wednesday November 18th, we are re-opening our IT Room at the school on a limited access basis and on condition that the room/equipment used are fully sanitized before and after use. Such to be the responsibility of the Class Teacher last in the room.
- Homework is being re-introduced on a very limited basis with immediate effect. Such to be at the discretion of each individual Class Teacher. Please remember, that our primary concern remains to restrict the possibility that COVID 19 might be introduced or spread throughout the School. To that effect, we are still employing far-reaching limitations on what is brought into and out of SBC each day. So, even through Homework is being re-introduced, -it is still a very “watered down” version of what we are all used to. We hope to make further tentative advances in this area after Christmas and into the New Year.
- Please contact “The Lunch Bag” directly to give feedback or to pose a question on their service at SBC. At the school, we only facilitate the programme and have no input or control over its delivery.
- Please encourage your child(ren) from 1st to 6th Class to make use of their Mathletics Subscription. At this stage, all those pupils should have their Passwords/Codes to access their own particular account.
- Teachers are currently taking orders for the Educate.ie Christmas Annuals. Further details can be obtained from each Class Teacher. However, the very last date for the receipt of orders is Friday 27th of November 2020.
- We are currently sourcing Birthday Certificates which Sir will give out on Monday Mornings to all pupils whose birthdays occur in that particular week.
- We are very much aware that the children’s birthday celebrations have been quite muted to say the least during these difficult times. Accordingly,-and whilst current Covid 19 Restrictions remain in place,- Mr. O’Sullivan has given permission to the Teachers in the three Junior Rooms (Miss Buckley; Miss O’Mahoney; Miss Hennessy/ Miss Morrissey) to liaise with parents of the children in their own classrooms to plan a small celebration which could be held over the last 30 mins approx. of class on the last Friday of every month. (All pupil birthdays from that particular month would be marked/celebrated) We are obviously very mindful of the fact that we do not wish to risk introducing Covid-19 into SBC,-so we must insist that parents of the children in question take great care if sending in any small treats to Class Teacher on that last Friday each month. (There is always some degree of risk associated with any items brought into the school from outside) We won’t be allowing cakes into the school. However, mini packs of Haribo, mini bars or packets of crisps would be considered acceptable. Please consult with Class Teacher on these matters. Ultimately, it is she that will have the final say in everything that takes place in her classroom and she will ensure that every child is treated in the same way. These arrangements shall only remain in place for as long as Covid 19 continues to effect our lives.
- COVID 19 hasn’t gone away. We still need to be vigilant to make sure we keep it out of SBC. Thanks to you and because of your efforts in the community, we have been able to keep SBC open and running as smoothly as possible. Well done everybody. Keep up the good work. Our children need to be in school,-let’s not do anything silly that might jeopardise this. Please refresh your memory by referring to all the procedures set out in our “Parent Information on the School Re-Opening Logistical Plan” under the Tab “Covid 19 SBC Plan for the Safe and Sustainable Re-Opening of Our School” for further details.
