Principal’s Address January 2021
It became more and more apparent over Christmas 2020, that schools would not be in a position to re-open in January. Sadly, this virus just won’t go away and continues to have a huge impact on all walks of society.
At SBC, we are very proud of the fact that we remained open from August 27th 2020 to December 22nd without any direct case of Covid 19 among our Staff and Pupils. We are very grateful to all in our community for keeping the level of infection so low during this period.
We are extremely disappointed that we must now enter a new phase of Lockdown with our doors closed to the children for the remainder of this month. As a staff, we predicted as much the more the Christmas Holidays came and went. Long before the Minister’s announcements of Holiday Extension to January 11th and full Closure to the end of the month, our Teachers have been very busy putting their contingency plans in place in an attempt to provide meaningful learning experiences over the coming weeks.
Hopefully, these are simply short-term arrangements and we will be in a position to return to school/classes at the beginning of February. Obviously in order to achieve this aim, the country need to re-take control of the virus. Every single one of us has a role to play in this battle. We in Clonaslee successfully fought Covid 19 from August 2020 to Christmas 2020. Because we followed all the necessary protocols , we were able to successfully open our school and keep it open. We will do so again. Please, please limit your contacts, wear a mask, wash your hands regularly and use hand-sanitiser whenever outside your own home.
We must beat this and we must re-open SBC. Stay Safe everyone.
See you soon.

- Our Covid 19 Remote Learning Tab on the School Website will be edited and updated to reflect the current situation and advise you all on how we hope to provide for the children during the January Lockdown.
- Individual Class Teachers will be providing weekly menus of work for the children. They will be in touch with you via the See Saw Platform, text and/or email. If you need to contact your Class Teacher, you can do so via See Saw or through the Teacher’s own email address.
- Teachers will also be making arrangements for the distribution/collection of texts/materials they deem necessary. You will be advised of same over the coming days.
