• This year we have decided to have the End of Year School Mass at 11:00am on the day of the holidays, June 21st. There are many reasons for same :
1) Our chosen dates for an evening mass didn’t work out with what Father has available in his diary. And we need to respect the fact that Father is very busy most evenings at this time of year. We can’t be putting too many demands on him.
2) A day-time celebration guarantees the full attendance of all staff, classes and pupils,- especially our choir.
3) Up to the present time, we're the only school that has been having an end of year mass in the evening, - all schools do these things during school hours. We’ve been the most obvious exception up to now.
• This year’s mass will be no less poignant/special,- in fact we feel it will be even more so.
The 6th Class will still be centre stage and they will still get to play a central role in the ceremony eg Handing over their School Jumpers and collecting their Mementos from the staff of SBC.
• And in front of the whole school population.
• Parents have been given 5 weeks notice to arrange for a little time off on the day to attend the mass.
• The only adjustment we need to make is to arrange for an earlier 11:00am mass with Father ( the original time arranged was for 11:30am,- but we feel we need a little more time to get through the full plan,- thence the need to switch back to an earlier start-time if 11:00am ).
• That would give more than enough time for:
1) A cup of tea and refreshments for the 6th Class and their Parents/Grandparents ONLY in the school hall. ( No other class will be present in the gym. This is a special day for 6th Class. )
2) Our Parents’ Association will have arranged for an especially commissioned cake with the Class Photo done up in the marzipan icing. This will be formally cut by the eldest child in 6th Class/the school.
3) At around 12:25pm, we can get the 6th Class ready for “the walk of fame” up through the Main Corridor which will be lined with all the classes from J.Inf to 5th Class. As usual, each 6th Class Pupil will be introduced to the classes and shall receive a round of applause from the entire gathering as they make their way out of the Gym and up to the Front Main Door.
